Artist Star U Mya Than (Born in 1934) was a Burmese artist who began painting at the young age of 14. He learned from renowned teachers like U Chit Pu and U Chit Tin,U Ngwe Gaing, U San Win, U Ba Kyi, U San Shein, U Hla Maung Gyi, and U Chit Maung. Star Mya Than’s paintings primarily focused on a single theme: the graceful movements of dancers, often depicted in various poses, colors, and sizes. Over time, his work shifted to portray Kinnari couples, mythical beings from Burmese folklore.
Star Mya Than’s artistic journey began with his first exhibition in 1977. He held another show in 2007, showcasing 32 pieces dedicated solely to the beauty of Burmese dancing girl. Sadly, the talented artist passed away recently in 2019.
